Josep Maria Carbó: An Intimate Look at the Human Figure.

Josep Maria Carbó is a self-taught artist who works primarily with figurative drawing and watercolour. His work focuses especially on the human figure, through which he seeks to convey emotions and moods rather than simply depict an image.

His artistic language is characterised by a delicate balance between precision and spontaneity. Pencil provides structure and definition, while watercolour introduces transparency, softness and movement. Light and shadow play a fundamental role, creating intimate, serene and, at times, mysterious atmospheres.

The absence or simplification of faces in some of his works allows the viewer to complete the story and project their own emotions onto the figures. Freedom, introspection, vulnerability and serenity thus emerge as recurring themes.

With an elegant and sensitive aesthetic, Carbó transforms the human body into a vehicle for exploring the individual and their inner world. His works invite us to pause, observe and surrender to a feeling of silence, intimacy and contemplation.
