Maria Paola Coda’s paintings are materialistic and profound. Her creative hand generously overlays layers and layers of paint until the surface of the canvas is buried by large doses of material. The metaphor is served: the coating of painting is the acceleration of the passage of time, but it is also that of the human condition and its contradictions. A species that lives in an emotionally hurt century in which it costs a lot to go head on. The essence of painting, like that of the people, is hidden, it is buried, imperceptible to the naked eye.
